Frequently Asked Questions

  1. When can I register my child in the Perth Lanark Minor Hockey Association?

Registration typically opens in the spring of each year, with several walk-in clinics.  Registrations can also be submitted at designation locations, with payment up the the deadline date.  Late registrations are typically accepted however a late registrant fee may apply.  For full details on registration dates and costs, visit the Registration section of the website.

  2. How do I know what division my child will play in?

Minor hockey is divided into seven (7) divisions based on the age of your child: Initiation; Novice; Atom; Peewee; Bantom; Midget; and Juvenile.  A child can enter minor hockey if they have reached the age of 4 by January 1st of the year in which you wish to enroll them.  Children aged 4, 5 and 6 play in Initiation (also known as I/P) with a focus on developing strong skating skills and learning about the fundamentals of hockey.  Children aged 7 and 8 play in Novice, and so on, right up thru to Juvenile.  Refer to the Registration forms for the current hockey season to determine which division your child will play in.

  3. How much does it cost for my child to play?

Many factors go into the cost of registration with the PLMHA including the division that your child will play in, how many children you have playing in the association, how much fundraising you do, and the number of tournaments that your child's team(s) play in over the course of the year.  View the Registration section of the website for information on core registration fees for the current hockey year.

  4. How do I know when and where my child will be playing throughout the year?

This website is your best and most up-to-date location for all scheduled ice times for your children.  The Master Schedule shows all ice times for the Perth and Lanark Community Centre's, but visit your child's team page (using the yellow navigation on the left side of all pages) to see the full schedule for each team.

  5. Who do I contact if I have questions or need to raise an issue regarding my child's team?

Each team is managed by a group of volunteers under the guidance of a Convenor.  For questions regarding your team, your first point of contact should be your team's Manager and/or Coach - contact info can be found on the "Staff" page of your child's team page access thru the yellow navigation bar on the left side of every page on this website.  Any other issues can be raised with the Convenor for your child's division - check the Executive Committee page for contact information.
