Where We Fit in the Hockey World
Minor hockey, like any other organization has a hierarchy. This is intended to show you where our association fits in the pyramid up through the levels to Hockey Canada.
Hockey Canada
Formerly called the Canadian Hockey Association (
Ottawa District Hockey Association (ODHA)
The ODHA is the governing body of amateur hockey in the Ottawa area (East of and including the Counties of Leeds, Lanark and Renfrew). Some of their responsibilities include the management of the officiating program, development programs (including Speak Out - for bench staff), as well as other administrative responsibilities. The ODHA governs the Junior leagues in their area (Central Junior A Hockey League (CJHL), the Eastern Ontario Junior B Hockey League, and The Eastern Ontario Junior C Hockey League). Also reporting to the ODHA is the Ottawa District Minor Hockey Association (ODMHA). The ODHA and the ODMHA share office facilities in Ottawa. The ODHA has a full time administrative staff. For more information about the ODHA check their website at www.odha.com.
Ottawa District Minor Hockey Association (ODMHA)
In the same area that the ODHA operates, the ODMHA governs what is specific to Minor hockey. Many of the regulations by which we play (and administer hockey) are decided here (such as the affiliation and transfer policies). The ODMHA directly governs the Competitive Leagues (
District 4 (ODMHA)
The District we are part of is District 4 (Rideau-Carleton). Our District Council meets monthly, and is composed of a district executive and the President of each of the Associations and Clubs within the District. There are 7 Associations and 4 Clubs within this district. Most interpretation and enforcement of ODHA/ODMHA regulations takes place at District 4. The District 4 website is www.district4.ca.
Perth Lanark Minor Hockey Association (PLMHA)
This brings us to Perth Lanark Minor Hockey. We operate under the rules and regulations of Hockey Canada, ODHA, ODMHA, and District 4 and the leagues we place our team in. Our house teams play in the Lanark Carleton Minor Hockey League (LCMHL) and our Competitive B teams in the Upper Canada Minor Hockey League (UCMHL). Two other higher level competitive programs are available to our more skilled players. We have several players with the Ottawa Valley Titans & some of our players will play with the Ottawa Valley Silver Seven. Our Initiation players learn how to skate and develop their skills as they play in-house. We offer teams at each level (Initiation to Juvenile).
